Upalokayukta appointment process is on: Jayachandra

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra has said that the process of appointing former High Court judge K.L. Manjunath to the Karnataka Upalokayukta post is under process.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Mr. Jayachandra clarified that the Governor had not rejected the government’s proposal to appoint Justice Manjunath but had sought some clarifications which has been given by the government.

Yettinahole

He said the government is committed to implementing the Yettinahole project and the work of constructing the barrages is going on. The government will construct vented dams and a series of pick-ups in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts to store the water and help the people to address the shortage of drinking water during summer.

Mahadayi issue

Taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, Mr. Jayachandra said that the BJP leaders who have known the opinion, feelings of people about Mahadayi issue through their Raitha Chaithanya Yatre must meet the Prime Minister and convey the opinion and feelings of people to him (Mr. Modi) and tell him to intervene and solve the issue.

He said the people of Karnataka have elected 18 MPs of the BJP from the State and to protect the interests of the State they should convince the Prime Minister to intervene.
