‘Union govt. has failed to protect interests of common man’

May 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - DAVANGERE:

The Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC) chairman D. Basavaraj has alleged that the Union government has failed in protecting the interests of common man and farmers.

Addressing reporters here on Friday, he said that before the last Lok Sabha elections the BJP had promised that it would take immediate steps to bring back the black money stashed in banks of foreign countries, maintain transparency in administration and generate Rs. 3 crore of employment in a year. The government had also failed to control the increasing prices of essential commodities, he alleged.

Instead of taking steps to stop farmers committing suicides and framing policies in favour of common man, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is busy touring foreign countries and his few close associates dominate the whole Cabinet and the remaining Ministers are neglected, he added.

Mr. Basavaraj also alleged that BJP MP G.M. Siddeshwar had not taken any steps to fulfill his demands like constructing an airport in Davangere, bringing an IIT to Davangere, including Davangere in the list of smart cities and even constructing a railway gate outside Ashoka cinema in the city.

Since the people had high expectations of the BJP government at the centre, they should concentrate on the welfare of the common man and fulfil their promises, he said.
