Ugrappa challenges Yediyurappa to take ‘truth test’ at temple

Former MP and Congress leader V.S. Ugrappa on Monday challenged Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to take a “truth test” at Siddalingeshwara Temple in Yediyur to prove his innocence, after the latter accused the Congress of “distorting” his statement in a leaked video clip on disqualified MLAs.

Mr. Yediyurappa is a devotee of Siddalingeshwara Temple. Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Ugrappa said Mr. Yediyurappa in the video clearly spoke about Home Minister Amit Shah’s involvement in the resignation of 17 legislators. Mr. Yediyurappa had also confessed that the party was involved in “Operation Kamala”. Later, the Chief Minister claimed that the disqualified MLAs had resigned for their own reasons and the party did not have anything to do with it, Mr. Ugrappa said.

He said the BJP State unit had ordered an internal probe to find out how the video footage of Mr. Yediyurappa’s speech at the party’s internal meeting at Hubballi was leaked. This clearly indicates that the party has accepted the fact that the video contained the Chief Minister’s speech, Mr. Ugrappa claimed. There is no substance in Mr. Yediyurappa’s allegations against Congress leader Siddaramaiah, who had no role in the resignation of MLAs, he said.
