Two held on charge of stocking cannabis leaves

Two persons have arrested on the charge of possessing cannabis (ganja) leaves in the district in separate incidents.

Acting on a tip-off, the District Crime Intelligence Bureau police raided the house of Thimmappa at Koralukoppa, a village in Sagar taluk, and seized cannabis leaves worth Rs. 45,000 from there. The police arrested Thimmappa in this connection. P

The police said that the arrested had planned to sell the cannabis leaves cultivated by him after processing and drying them. A case has been booked against him in the Sagar Rural police station.In another case, Ripponpet police seized 120 kg. , cannabis leaves cultivated illegally at Maskani, a village in Bellur gram panchayat limits. Venkata Naik, resident of the village, who was allegedly cultivating cannabis, was arrested. The police have booked cases under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act against both the arrested.
