The landslips caused by heavy rains in the Western Ghats forced South Western Railways to cancel two trains heading to Mangaluru partially. The trains were stopped in Hassan and passengers were provided with alternative arrangements to reach their destinations.

Landslips were reported at many places between Sakleshpur and Subramanya Road stations. SWR officers cancelled the trains as tracks were covered by heaps of mud.

The Bengaluru City – Mangaluru – Kannur Express (16517), which left Bengaluru on Monday night, was partially cancelled. The train stopped at Hassan early morning on Tuesday. Around 200 passengers were provided with alternative arrangements to reach their destinations. Similarly, Gomateshwara Express (16575) was also stopped at Hassan on Tuesday. The restoration of tracks is on.

Meanwhile, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has cancelled all premium bus services towards Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. A press release stated that services from Bengaluru towards Mangaluru, Kukke Subramanya, Dharmasthala, and Kundapur were cancelled, while only express buses plying over Charmadi Ghat were being operated.
