Tobacco growers to receive awards today

Thirty outstanding tobacco growers from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will be given with Best Grower Award on the 11th Formation Day of Tobacco Board here on Friday.

The awards will be presented to them for achieving the highest yield and quality of FCV tobacco during the crop season 2013–14.

The award carries cash prize of Rs. 5,000 and a memento, besides a certificate of appreciation.

Tobacco Board Chairman Koothati Gopal will preside and K. Satya Gopal, Director-General, National Institute of Plant Health Management, Hyderabad, will be the chief guest.

Major exporters, traders and growers’ representatives from each auction platform in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will participate.

Five auction platforms will be given the Best Auction Platforms’ awards for their outstanding performance.

The Board is also felicitating 35 best traders with a memento for achieving highest performance in exports under the manufacturers’ category and merchant exporters’ category.

The Best Buyer Award, Best Packer Award, and the Best Exporter Award will also be given.
