A tiger, aged around 6 to 7 years, was found dead in Omkar range of Bandipur National Park.
The forest guards stumbled upon the carcass of the tiger during their regular beat in Aradevana Katte forest region in Gundlupet sub division on Saturday.
A statement from the Assistant Conservator of Forests, Gundlupet, attributed the death of the tiger to a fight with another tiger.
Forest department officials including Conservator of Forests P. Ramesh Kumar and others visited the spot and inspected the carcass and found the nails, teeth and other organs intact.
A post mortem of the dead tiger was carried out by forest department veterinarian Dr. Wasim Mirza. Subsequently, the carcass was burnt as per the protocol stipulated by the National Tiger Conservation Authority, the press statement added.
