Mishap attributed to heavy rain

Three people of a family were killed as the chimney of a brick factory collapsed due to heavy rain at Rajpet Road near Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The police gave the names of the victims as Sukur Sab (60), his wife Fathima (50) and their grandson Nayaz (5).

Sukur Sab and Fathima along with their daughter in-law Ayesha were working in the brick factory at J.K. Puram. The couple and their grandson slept in the factory while Ayesha slept in a relative’s house nearby.

The chimney reportedly collapsed at around 3.30 a.m. killing all the three on the spot. The incident came to light when Ayesha went to the factory in the morning. Incessant rain is said to be the cause for the mishap. She had filed a complaint with the Andersonpet police station.
