As heavy rain continued to lash Southern Maharashtra and the catchment areas of the Krishna, there has not been much variation in the inflow in the rivers in Belagavi district.

According to official sources, in fact, the inflow into the Krishna’s tributaries, the Vedganga and Doodganga, has receded now.

And, with the water level receding, three low-lying bridges, one in Nippani taluk and two in Chikkodi taluk, which were submerged a day before, were thrown open to traffic on Wednesday.

As per a release issued by the Chikkodi Tahsildar, all the rivers in the district are flowing below the danger level and all the eight bridges and barrages in Chikkodi taluk are open for vehicular traffic.

Meanwhile, various parts of Belagavi district remained cloudy. There was drizzle and mild showers in Belagavi city and surrounding villages on Wednesday evening.

The highest rainfall of 11 mm and 9.2 mm was recorded at two rain gauge centres in Nippani (ARS and PWD), followed by Soundalaga (4.2 mm), Chikkodi (3.8 mm), Nagarmunnoli (3.4 mm), Galataga (3.2 mm), Jodatti (2.6 mm), Ankali (2.2 mm) and Sadalaga (1.8 m).

As per the release, Koyna in Maharastra received 65 mm rainfall.
