Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday said he had received a communication from the Centre for having sanctioned ₹546 crore as aid for carrying out rehabilitation and reconstruction works in eight districts of the State, including flood-affected Kodagu.
Speaking to reporters at Madapura in Kodagu before launching a housing project for the flood-affected families in the district, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the aid announced by the Centre was not alone for Kodagu. The funding should be made use in all eight affected districts based on the Centre’s guidelines.
The Chief Minister, however, said around ₹170 crore had been collected in the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund which would be fully utilised for the rehabilitation work in Kodagu.
The Chief Minister said he had cleared the file that ensures payment of ₹10,000 every month to the families that lost their houses in the floods and landslips, towards payment of house rent.
A sum of ₹9.85 lakh is being spent on the construction of each two-BHK house for the families who have lost homes, the work on which the Chief Minister inaugurated.
“If they want to build a bigger house by putting in some extra money, they can as well do it by giving details to the Deputy Commissioner,” the Chief Minister said.
