Addressing the meet, Chandrashekhar Gorbal, a leader of Anti-Imperialist Forum, held “fundamentalist forces” responsible for the murder of the rationalist scholar.

Mr. Gorbal demanded that the State enact the anti-superstition bill to controll the spread of superstitious thoughts in society. D.H. Pujar, State president of Karnataka Raitha Sangha, termed the murder of Kalburgi as a murder of democracy and freedom of speech. He called upon all democratic forces to get united in the fight against the fascist forces.
