S. Ruchitha, of Chamundeshwari Nagar, may be adept at handling a smartphone. However, she has little knowledge about the utilisation and significance of the services of the Department of Posts. On Monday, along with her schoolmates, Ruchitha visited the main post office and learned about the department.

Daffodils International Public School, on the occasion of the World Post Day, took the students to the post office to give them a brief picture about the evaluation of postal services.

The personnel at the office welcomed the children, showed them varieties of stamps and letters, explained the development of the postal services in the country and asked the students to cultivate a habit of writing letters to friends and relatives.

The postal services have a history of over a century. The services of the department in the development of the country is immeasurable, O. Govindappa, Superintendent of Posts, Post Master V.C. Jaya, and other officials told the students.

Later, the students thanked the personnel at the office and dropped letters written to their friends and family members into the postbox.
