‘Steps taken to encourage sports’

Nagambika Devi, Principal Secretary, Department of Youth Services, Kannada and Culture, Information, said on Saturday that steps were taken to encourage sports and related activities in Udupi district.

She was speaking after inspecting the works on the District Swimming Pool being constructed at a cost of Rs. 2 crore, here.

She directed officials to expedite work on the swimming pool. She visited the District Stadium, and the office of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports on its premises.

She directed that green cover be developed amid the synthetic track at the stadium. She appreciated the gymnasium, table tennis and shuttle badminton facilities. Roshan Kumar Shetty, Assistant Director, Assistant Director of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, gave information on various developmental activities to Ms. Devi.
