‘Spell out stand on prosecuting KPSC members’

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday asked the State government to spell out its stand on prosecuting some former and present members of the Karnataka Public Service Commission as the investigating agency had sought sanction for prosecution in 2014.

A Division Bench comprising Justice H.G Ramesh and Justice John Michael Cunha issued the direction during a hearing on a PIL petition filed by social activist T.J. Abraham, seeking sanction for prosecution of “tainted” KPSC members and restraining such members from functioning.

As it was brought to the notice of the Bench that the investigating agency in 2014 had written to the State on sanction for prosecution, the Bench asked the government counsel whether the State is wiling to prosecute the matter as the authority to grant sanction for prosecution is the President of India.
