Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said here on Wednesday that his government was contemplating bringing parity in pay scale of State government employees with that of Union government employees.

He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the three-day State-level sports meet for government employees for 2014-15 at Sir M. Visvesvaraya District Stadium here.

State government employee associations have been demanding pay parity with Central government employees for the past several months. The government will promptly initiate measures to fulfill the demands, he said.

The State government has already introduced a health scheme for government employees and will implement some more schemes for the welfare of State government employees, he said.

Diamond jubilee

Meanwhile, Minister for Housing and district in-charge M.H. Ambareesh has requested the Chief Minister to allocate Rs. 500 crore for the development of Mandya.

The district will soon celebrate its diamond jubilee and the government should sanction a special package for its development, he said.

Minister for Cooperation H.S. Mahadeva Prasad; C.S. Puttaraju, Mandya MP; Deputy Commissioner M.N. Ajay Nahabhushan; MLAs N. Cheluvaraya Swamy and D.C. Thammanna; Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, and elected representatives and officials were present.

The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Mandya district administration, zilla panchayat and City Municipal Council and State Government Employees Association organised the meet.
