Six killed in road accident

Six persons were killed and four injured when two cars collided on NH 63 near Adavisomapura village of Gadag district in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased are Siddalingesh Korishettar, Manojkumar Karadigudda, Anand Betageri, Arunkumar Betageri, Amrut Laturkar and Channu Badad, all residents of Hebballi Agasi of Dharwad.

Among the injured, Manjunath Hallikeri and Vishwanath Kerur, who have sustained serious injuries, have been admitted to a hospital in Hubballi, while other two, Virupakshappa Abbigeri and Vijaykumar Banavasi, are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gadag.

According to sources, they had been to Gadag to attend a wedding ceremony of their friend on Saturday.

The accident occurred as one of the cars hit the road divider on the Ring Road and toppled over the other car on the other side of the road, the sources added. A case has been registered in the Gadag Rural Police Station.
