Shivamogga retains sixth position in State’s PU pass percentage

The district has recorded a pass percentage of 74.61 this year

Shivamogga district is at sixth position in the State’s list of percentage of passes in II PU examinations announced on Monday.

The district recorded a pass percentage of 74.61 this year. Last year also, the district was in the sixth position with a pass percentage of 68.86.

Of the 15,395 freshers, who had appeared for the examination this year, 11,456 students have passed. In all, 17,670 students, including those appearing privately and repeaters, had taken the examination. Of them, 12,147 have passed.

Of the 6,479 students in Arts stream, 4,099 have passed, recording a pass percentage of 63.26. In Commerce stream, 5,993 students had appeared for the examination and 4,313 of them have passed, registering a pass percentage to 71.96.

In Science stream, the pass percentage is 71.85 with 3,735 of the 5,198 students having cleared the examination.

Among the taluks, Sorab at the top with a pass percentage of 75.36. The pass percentage in Hosanagar is 75.09, followed by Tirthahalli with 73.07, Shivamogga with 70.67, Sagar with 70, Bhadravati with 61.42 and Shikaripur with 58.87.

Deputy Director of PU Education Indumati has said that three colleges had achieved 100 per cent results this year. They are: Banasiri Lions’ PU College in Shikaripur; Vikasa PU College in Shivamogga; and SAV PU College in Bhadravati.
