Seven held
In view of the May 29 gram panchayat elections, the Hassan police conducted raids in five different places across the district on Wednesday evening and arrested seven persons on the charge of selling liquor and seized liquor worth Rs. 18,085.
The police gave the names of the arrested as Chandranna (37) from Mallapura in Belur taluk, Somashekhar (35) from Kyatalapura in Halebid hobli, Manjunath (33) from Ponnathapura in Halebid hobli, Kumaranaik (35) and Annanaik (37) from Koranahalli in Arsikere taluk, Nanjappa (68) from Byaladakere in Arsikere taluk and Shive Gowda (42) from Gandasi in Arsikere taluk. The arrested have been remanded to judicial custody. — Staff Correspondent
