Seminar to mark Karl Marx’s200th birth anniversary

As part of the 200th birth anniversary of philosopher Karl Marx, Navakarnataka Publication and Priya Publication have jointly planned a seminar on “Indian agrarian crisis - a Marxist view” at the conference hall of Hyderabad Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries here on Sunday.

Kannada translations of two works — The Civil War in France and The Poverty of Philosophy — would be released on the occasion.

Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Maruti Manpade, a farmer leader and associate of Priya Publication, said that renowned Marxist scholars Venkatesh Athreya and P.V. Lokesh would present their views on the Indian agrarian crisis from a Marxist perspective.

Scholars and activists from the region, including Ranjan Darga, Sanatkumar Belagali, H.T. Pothe, P. Sampath Rao, Prabhu Khanapure, Shivaganga Rumma, Kashinath Ambalage, Maruthi Gokhale, Subhash Bhani, Meenakshi Bali, K. Neela, Bhimashankar Madyal, P. Vilas Kumar and others would respond to the main lectures.

Communist leader G.V. Srirama Reddy would release the books. B. Peer Basha and R.K. Hudugi would speak on the translations of The Civil War in France and The Poverty of Philosophy, respectively.
