Search operations for the seven-year-old boy who went missing in an overflowing drain in Santraswadi locality in Kalaburagi city on Monday evening, turned futile on the third day on Wednesday.
Sources said that Krishna Hatwala, a resident of Gazipur area in the city, had gone with his friends to play cricket when he went missing.
The sources said that a 22-member team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), which has arrived for the search operations, launched a fresh search at the point where the boy is said to have slipped and fallen into the drain and disappeared. The team members would continue the operation on Thursday morning and conduct a thorough search in each drain and connecting pits till the main outlets on the outskirts of the city. Though various agencies conducted search operations in the last more than 48 hours, the boy remains untraced till reports last came in at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
