Science fiction writers conference in Bagalkot

A three-day conference of the Indian Association of Science Fiction Studies will be held at Konnur Science College in Yellatti in Bagalkot district from February 5.

It will deliberate on issues concerning science fiction in India.

Conference chairman Rajashekhar Bhusanurmath told presspersons here on Tuesday that the theme of this year’s conference would be ‘science fiction and the media’.

Nearly 200 delegates from across the country would take part and 150 papers would be presented.

A workshop for science writers, screening of films on science fiction, and other programmes would also be held, Mr. Bhusanurmath said.

Science fiction writing had emerged as a popular form of literature in recent times. Besides English, there was a lot of scope for science fiction writing in vernacular languages., he said.

The conference would provide a platform for science fiction writers from different parts to meet at one place. Contact 08353-230041, 230043.
