Rs. 1,000 cr. for Belagavi under smart city project

Belagavi will get around Rs. 1,000 crore for various schemes under the the smart city project, Shashidhar Kurer, in-charge chief executive officer of the project, said in Belagavi on Wednesday.

The Union government has already sanctioned Rs. 400 crore for Belagavi. This is being channelled into different schemes to improve amenities for citizens, improve infrastructure like roads and bridges, conserve and develop water bodies, protect heritage structures and develop green spaces in the city.

The project has got feedback from 1.75 lakh people through letters and social media handles. This shows the level of involvement of the public in the city’s development, he said while addressing stake holders at the Belagavi city corporation office. Consultants and officials presented details of the schemes planned under the project. Mayor Sanjot Bandekar, deputy Mayor Nagesh Mandolkar and others were present.
