The razing of the Brindavana of Vyasaraja Tirtha at Anegondi village in Koppal district elicited strong reactions on Friday.

In Dharwad, members of the Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha and various Bhajana Mandalis held a protest rally condemning the incident. They have urged the State government to take stern action against those responsib le for the incident.

Later, the mahasaba and others submitted a memorandum, addressed to the Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, urging him to take action. In Belagavi, some organisations also took out a rally. They walked to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and held a meeting at the Kannada Sahitya Bhavan. They strongly condemned the vandalising and demanded that the government immediately bring the offenders to book.

Leader R.S. Muthalik said that the vandalism had come as a shock.
