Kannada film actor Rakshita joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday in the presence of senior leaders.
Ms. Rakshita, who was president of the women’s wing of the BSR Congress, had recently joined the Janata Dal (Secular) after the former denied her ticket to contest the Assembly election. She was upset with the JD(S) too as it allegedly ignored her plea for ticket for the Mandya Lok Sabha seat.
Ms. Rakshita said she was joining the BJP to do her bit to help Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi become the Prime Minister.
In an obvious reference to her frequent party-hopping, she said, “I am still a baby in politics. I appeal to the people to pardon me for whatever I have done.”
Her husband and film director Prem was present.
