As many as four houses and a boat were damaged due to rain accompanied by strong winds in Udupi district on Thursday.
According to information provided by the Kundapur Taluk Office, a house belonging to M. Subraya was damaged, when 26 cement sheets were blown away by stormy rain in Bijoor village. The loss due to the damage had been estimated at Rs. 1.5 lakh.
Raghuram Shetty’s house was completely damaged due to heavy rain in Yedamogge village, and the loss was estimated at Rs. 50,000, while a house belonging to Shyamala was damaged at Kavarady village and the loss was estimated at Rs. 15,000.
A boat belonging to Vikram Shankar was damaged when a tree fell on it at Basrur village and the loss has been estimated at Rs. 5,000.
As per the information provide by Udupi Taluk Office, the house of Girija Bai was damaged when a tree fell on it and the loss had been estimated at Rs. 30,000.
According to the information provided by the District Control Room at the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Udupi received a rainfall of 27.4 mm in the last 24 hours ending at 9 a.m. on Thursday. Kundapur and Karkala received a rainfall of 26.2 mm and 52.8 mm respectively.
