Raghunandan Panshikar of Pune left behind an indelible impression in the minds of the connoisseurs of music here with his soul-stirring performance at the recently concluded Hindustani classical music and dance festival.
The programme was organised by the Arts Circle, to mark its 75 years of activities.
Mr. Panshikar, a disciple of Mogubai Kurdikar of the Jaipur-Atrauli kharana, mesmerised the audience with his rendition of sukhiya kalian raga.
The melodic delineation over a slow tempo was marked by the majestical akaar, dazzling tans and fine meendkari and gamaks and wonderful intricacies of layakari.
The three-day musical extravaganza commenced with an impressive Kathak recital by Sharvari Jamenis of Pune on Saturday, which was followed by a vocal rendition by Kaivalyakumar Gurav.
The morning concert by Mr. Raghunandan on Sunday was followed by a enchanting jugalbandi between renowned instrumentalists of Karnataka, Pandit Godkhindi (Dharwad) and Katoti (Bengaluru) on flute and harmonium, who presented vilambit and drut compositions in shudh sarang and concluded with a melodious thumari in khamaj raga.
The third day evening was reserved for vocalist Utsad Rashid Khan. However, he cut-short the duration to around 75 minutes. He was accompanied on the tabla by Satyajit Talwadkar and on the harmonium by Tanmay Deochake
