PU student to preside over Makkala Sahitya Sammelana in Hassan

More than 2,500 children expected to take part

Keerthana Nayak of Tumakuru has been chosen to preside over the first Akhila Bharatiya Makkala Sahitya Sammelana to be held in Hassan on November 29 and 30.

Keerthana, a native of Koratagere in Tumakuru district, is studying PUC at Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada district. Her father B.R.Narasimhamurthy and mother Padmavathi are agriculturists. She has brought out two books.

Revanth Rajeev, student of BGS High School at Pandavapura in Mandya district, Pradyumna Murthy of Rotary PU College at Moodbidri and Abhishek Ubhale of Delhi have been chosen as co-presidents of the event.

Makkala Sahitya Parishat and Adichunchanagiri Mutt in Hassan will hold the programme at the district stadium in Hassan. Shambhunatha Swamy of Adichunchanagiri Mutt announced the names of president and co-presidents at a press conference here on Monday.

The seer said children were selected to preside over the event considering their creative talent and their contributions to literature. Children from different districts have been chosen to preside over seminars and poets’ meets to be held as part of the two-day event. More than 2,500 children from different parts of the country are expected to take part in the programme, he said.

Makkala Sahitya Parishat president C.N. Ashok and others were present.
