A 17-year-old student of St. Aloysius College was found dead in his room in the college’s hostel in Kodailbail here on Thursday.
According to Mangaluru North police, Marvel Mendonsa (17), a 2 PU student, had breakfast and returned to his room where he was staying alone. When the college warden was checking rooms, he did not get any response from inside. He then peeked into the room by opening the ventilator and found the boy hanging from the roof.
The police said they rushed to the hostel and broke open the lock. They are yet to know the reason for the suicide. They have informed Marvel’s parents, who are likely to arrive in the city late on Thursday night. Marvel had been staying in the hostel since last year.
The college staff and students had a meeting to condole the death. A group of students met the principal to enquire about the reason that forced Marvel to end his life.
