PU college lecturer files complaint of assault against husband in Hassan

A senior faculty member of the Government Arts College here has allegedly assaulted his wife and daughter, prompting his wife file a complaint with the police. M.K. Devappa, Assistant Professor of Sociology in the college, allegedly assaulted his wife Thayamma, a lecturer in a PU college, and his daughter, on Thursday night, according to the complaint.Ms. Thayamma, who is undergoing treated at the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences, told presspersons that Mr. Devappa had served a divorce notice to her and was forcing her to give the consent. “Often, he picks up argument with me on the divorce issue. He has hit me and scolded me on several occasions. Following an argument on Thursday night, he assaulted me and my daughter,” she said.Ms. Thayamma has filed a complaint against her husband with Hassan Extension police.

She has accused her spouse, who is also a lecturer in a government college, of picking quarrel frequently and manhandling her
