Protest planned tomorrow

October 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - DAVANGERE:

Karnataka Sahitya Academy member B.T. Jahnavi has said that an agitation has been planned on October 26 to pressure the authorities to take legal action against those allegedly involved in the recent attack on writer Ucchangi Prasad.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, she said that the attack was condemnable and such incidents would increase if action was not initiated against the culprits. Litterateurs had been facing threats in recent times and if the same situation continued, they might stop expressing their ideas.

She also demanded that proper security be given to Mr. Prasad and also at the hostel where he was staying. Mr. Prasad said that in his book ‘Vadalika Kicchu’, he had expressed the problems faced by him during his childhood.

“But the members of some organisations targeted me. I don’t know to which group those people belong. I request to the authorities to take action against those involved in the act,” he added.
