The members of Communist Party of India (Marxist) staged a protest demonstration outside BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) office in Tumakuru here on Sunday opposing the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.
Addressing the agitators, CPI (M) State committee member, Syed Mujeeb alleged that due to the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, the prices of essential commodities will rise automatically. This is a burden on the common man.
He alleged that the prices of petrol and diesel are being controlled by the corporate companies and not the Union government.
He said “Acche Din” has come to the corporate companies and not for the common man.
District secretary of CPI(M), N.K. Subramanya demanded the Union government to reduce the tax on petrol and diesel and ease the burden on the common man.
He alleged that the profit went to corporate companies when the prices of the petrol and diesel were less in the international market thereby denying benefit to the people.
Leaders of the party, S. Raghavendra, Lokesh, Shanmugappa, E.Shivanna, B.Umesh and others were present.
