The Mysore Industries Association (MIA) has filed objections to the proposed hike in power tariff mooted by the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC).
The CESC has sought a hike of 80 paise per unit. The MIA warned that it would cripple Small Scale Industries (SSI), most of whom were facing financial difficulties.
The MIA pointed out that the revenue collection of electricity supply companies had taken a hit in recent years and an analysis by ESCOMs attributed it to recession in the industry. P. Vishwanath, MIA president, said some of the measures proposed by the CESC were regressive in nature and this included the withdrawal of subsidy on the use of solar power.
“What is dismaying is that the CESC wants to charge commercial rates for entrepreneurs working in the micro industries,” he said.
The MIA said the last date to file objections against the proposed hike was February 2, industries and all stakeholders can submit their objections directly to the CESC.
