Special prayers were conducted at St. Philomena’s Church in the city on Wednesday in memory of those who lost their lives in the serial blasts in Sri Lanka on Easter.
Led by Bishop K.A. Williams, members of the United Christian Forum in the city took part in the special prayers and expressed their sorrow over the heinous act perpetuated against humanity.
Addressing the gathering Rev. Williams said all religions speak of love and peace and yet it is incomprehensible that such heinous crimes continue to take place in the name of religion. He said by its very definition, a religious person harbours love and compassion towards humanity, and such a heinous crime is the opposite of what constitutes religiosity.
“We pray to God to infuse strength into the families of those who have lost their near and dear ones and at the same time we seek forgiveness from God for those who have carried out this act,” he added.
