Pratap Pawar, Chairman, Sakal Media Group, has called upon the corporate sector in India to serve the society and transform the fields of education and research and focus on higher education.
Delivering the keynote address at the fifth annual convocation of KLE University here on Saturday, he said India had an ocean of opportunities for young talent and deserved appropriate support to manifest it into achievements.
American universities had flourished with the active financial support of fellow their citizens, and in Europe, medical and technical education was driven by innovation. Research was encouraged at undergraduate level in western universities. China’s success story was not different as its enthusiasm and hunger to become world leaders was worth emulating, Mr. Pawar said.
He called upon young graduates to uphold honesty and sincerity in their lives and profession and use their knowledge and talent to serve the fellow members of society. Mr. Pawar cautioned that obtaining a degree was not the end of learning, rather beginning of learning of newer skills, techniques and innovations which must benefit the common men.
He said people had tremendous faith in doctors who need to be dedicated and connect with patients through good communication. They also need to use modern medical technologies in the best interest of the patient.
Commending the KLEU and its leadership for providing world-class education, infrastructure and student-friendly environment, said the KLE Society’s contribution in the domains of education and healthcare was worth emulating by other institutions.
KLES chairman and KLEU Chancellor Prabhakar Kore presided over the function. Registrar V.D. Patil and members of the Board of Management of the university were present.
A total of 884 students received certificates at the function. Eighteen students received gold medals for their achievement in different courses.
