Prakash Raj to contest LS polls from Bengaluru Central

Multilingual actor Prakash Raj on Saturday announced that he would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as an Independent from Bengaluru Central constituency.

The actor, who turned vocal following the murder of his friend Gauri Lankesh in 2017, had campaigned against the BJP in the May 2018 Assembly elections in the State.

Mr. Raj had announced on January 1 that he would be joining electoral politics to contest the Lok Sabha polls as an Independent. This led to speculation that he may contest from Telangana where he enjoys a good relationship with TRS supremo K. Chandrashekar Rao.

He, however, surprised many on Saturday by announcing that he would contest from Bengaluru Central. The seat, carved out during delimitation in 2008, is represented by BJP leader P.C. Mohan.
