Prajwal Revanna, son of H.D. Revanna, Minister for Public Works, was seen travelling in a government vehicle registered in the name of an Executive Engineer of the National Highways, in Hassan city on Tuesday.

Mr. Revanna, who is also general secretary of the JD(S), and said to be contesting for Hassan Lok Sabha constituency on the JD(S) ticket, held ward-wise meetings with party workers in the city on Tuesday.

Along with a few supporters, he travelled in a Toyota Innova with the registration number KA01 GA 8009. The vehicle, registered with Bengaluru Central RTO in 2016, is owned by an executive engineer of the National Highways, as per information obtained from the official website of the Transport Department.

A video showing Prajwal Revanna travelling in the government vehicle went viral.

Supporters of Preetham J. Gowda, Hassan MLA, also shared the video on Facebook criticising him.

JD(S) leader and Hassan ZP member H.P. Swaroop told mediapersons that Prajwal Revanna travelled in the government vehicle in the city as his private car developed a snag while he was travelling to Hassan from Holenarasipur earlier on the day. “As he reached KSRTC bus stand, his car developed a complication. Public Works officers, who were monitoring the construction work nearby, offered him their car so that he could reach his meeting venue,” he said.

Addressing a meeting at K.R. Puram, Prajwal Revanna alleged that Hassan MLA Preetham Gowda had failed to fulfil the promises he made while campaigning.

“Now Preetham Gowda has been claiming credit for the works sanctioned by the JD(S)-Congress coalition government due to the efforts of Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna. If he continues with that, we will have to expose him with documents,” he said.

Speaking at another meeting later, he clarified that the party had not officially declared the candidate for Hassan Lok Sabha seat. He stressed that party workers should be prepared to work for the party, irrespective of the candidate.

JD(S) national president H.D. Deve Gowda on a couple of occasions had said that his grandson would be contesting for the Hassan Lok Sabha seat. However, at a recent meeting in Hassan, the former Prime Minister said the candidate would be announced officially at a rally at an appropriate time.
