General Manager of South Western Railway Ashok Kumar Mital, who is also the chairman of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), has expressed satisfaction over the implementation of Hindi language in Union government offices, banks and public sector undertakings in the twin cities.
Chairing the 51st TOLIC meeting here on Monday, Mr. Mital emphasised the need for extensive use of Hindi in Union government offices and appreciated the efforts made by members of the committee to achieve targets prescribed in the annual programme.
Mr. Mital also asked members to send their quarterly reports in time so that the committee would be able to review the progress made in implementation of the language in their respective offices.
He also advised the members to ensure that officials wrote at least one or two lines in Hindi in their notings, endorsements, correspondence and other official transactions.
He asked them to conduct various programmes in Hindi under the banner of TOLIC during the ‘Hindi Fortnight’ or ‘Hindi Week’ to be observed in September.
TOLIC vice-chairman Vikrant Kalra highlighted the achievements of the committee in the last six months and urged member offices to nominate maximum number of employees for lessons in Hindi language, typing and stenography.
