Police deny arrest of terror suspects

Mysuru City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna, who also holds additional charge as the Inspector-General of Police (Southern range), on Sunday denied reports of the arrest of four terror suspects at Srirangapatna.

“There have been no arrests of suspects in any of the districts coming under my jurisdiction. The jurisdictional police are, however, doing their job of conducting searches in case of suspicion on anybody as many top dignitaries are visiting Mysuru for Dasara,” he told reporters here.

Mr. Balakrishna said there was no Intelligence input on any specific threat ahead of the Dasara finale and the police were on alert for the safety of the visitors.

For the finale, the police have stepped up security across Mysuru as the authorities are expecting a huge turnout for the Jamboo Savari.
