Physically challenged highlight importance of casting vote

A jatha to create awareness on voting was taken out by physically challenged people, under the aegis of district administration, on Saturday.

M. Lokesh, Deputy Commissioner, who flagged off the jatha at the B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan, said 12,714 physically challenged people are enrolled in the voters’ list in the district. To enable them to vote, ramps will be constructed at all polling stations and wheelchairs will be available. He also released cartoons by Ekanath Bongale on voting awareness on the occasion.

Later, Mr. Lokesh presented a demonstration on the functioning of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial( VVPAT system at the KSRTC bus terminal in the city.
