The demolition drive against encroachment on parking spaces in Hubballi continued on Wednesday, with the teams set up for the purpose clearing encroachments in nine buildings.

Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Rajendra Cholan and Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner C.M. Noor Mansoor visited the buildings identified for demolition on Wednesday, and monitored and directed the team members.

The encroachments were cleared in zone 6 of the corporation. The drive, which began early in the morning, went on until evening. Apart from earthmovers and concrete cutters, manual labour too had to be employed to clear the structures.

Dasar Apartment, Kedar Apartment, Sainag Apartment, Manohar Apartment, Gurudev Apartment and Makandar Building in Nagashettikoppa and Keshwapur; and Ashraf Bagalkot Building and Vasad Apartment in Badami Nagar, were among the buildings where encroachments were cleared on Wednesday.

According to the corporation’s plan, several buildings with encroachments will be targeted in the coming days. The corporation is also planning to conduct a re-survey of some buildings against which they have received complaints.
