Only four CMs turn up at Swachh Bharat meeting

Nine Chief Ministers were scheduled to participate in the event.

The meeting of the NITI Ayog’s sub-group comprising of Chief Ministers on the Swachh Bharat Mission began in Bengaluru at 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

The meeting, chaired by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, is discussing among other issues the methods of achieving universal sanitation and making the country open-defecation-free by 2019 that marks the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Though nine Chief Ministers were scheduled to participate in the event, only four turned up.

The Chief Ministers who are attending the meeting are Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla.

The other Chief Ministers have sent their representatives to the meeting.
