T.D. Raje Gowda, Congress MLA for Sringeri, has reached out to people of his constituency through social media to clarify his stand following reports in a section of the media that he has quit the party to join the BJP.

Mr. Gowda, the only Congress MLA in Chikkamagaluru district, has said he will not quit the Congress.

In a Facebook post, the MLA said he would never forget workers of the party. He also said he had not kept the “hard work of his workers on sale.”

“My only aim is to make Sringeri a model constituency. I expect cooperation from all people of the constituency, irrespective of the party they belonged to,” he wrote. He also posted a video clip of his statement aired on a news channel on his social media page.

A few people appreciated his gesture of reaching out to the public to clear the confusion.
