A 25-year-old newly married man allegedly committed suicide in the early hours of Monday after his wife complained to the police that she was forced to marry him in Hallada Hosahalli in Turuvekere taluk of Tumakuru district.
The police said that he has been identified as Mohan Gowda. He locked the cow shed from inside and allegedly hanged himself from the beam with a plastic wire. His grandmother Jayamma found him hanging from the window and called his parents. The parents informed the police and alleged that his wife and her family members are responsible for his death.
Mohan Gowda had run away with her and got married one month ago. However her parents convinced her and took her away from him. The girl had given a complaint to the Turuvekere police that Mohan Gowda forced her to marry him 15 days ago.
This had upset Mohan Gowda. He had written about her on a Facebook page and also had uploaded a video stating that he would commit suicide as his wife had complained against him and left him. He has also written a death note stating the reason for taking the extreme step.
A case has been registered in Turuvekere police station.
