A man was murdered allegedly over a petty matter at Arehalli in Belur taluk on Sunday. Police identified the murdered man as Eerappa (55).
According to the police, Eerappa and Ganesh, both residents of the village, had differences over laying water pipeline to their respective houses from one source. The two of them had an argument over the issue on Sunday morning. Ganesh, who had a hatchet with him, hit Eerappa during the argument.
Eerappa succumbed to the injury on the spot. Arehalli police took Ganesh into custody.
