In a series of transfers of officials in crucial posts, two top police intelligence officials and the additional chief secretary to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, were replaced within hours after Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa took oath.

Senior Advocate Prabhuling K. Navadagi has been appointed the new Advocate General by the Governor following the resignation of Madhusudan R. Naik.

While Amar Kumar Pandey has been appointed as the new Additional Director General of Police in the place of A.N. Prasad, Sandeep Patil has been appointed as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police in place of Hemanth Nimbalkar. Incidentally, Mr. Nimbalkar’s wife Anjali Nimbalkar has won from Khanapura constituency in Belagavi district on a Congress ticket. Meanwhile, senior IAS officer and Additional Chief Secretary M. Lakshminarayan has been transferred as Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister, replacing L.K. Atheeq. SP, Anti-Corruption Bureau, S. Girish has been posted as DCP (North East) Bengaluru city.

Two more transfers

Other transfers also appear to be effects of the political developments of the day. Replacing B. Ramesh, the government transferred K. Annamalai, who was SP, Chikkamagaluru, as SP, Ramangaram. This attains significance as Eagleton Resorts, Bidadi, where Congress had been hoarding its MLAs falls under the district and minutes after the transfer, the police security given to the resort was withdrawn.

Dr. Chandragupta, who was DCP (Central) Bengaluru, was also moved out to be replaced by D. Deveraj, who was SP, Bidar. This is reportedly as the CM was unhappy at how the Congress-JD(S) MLAs and leaders were let into the Vidhana Soudha to hold a protest against his swearing in. “Yeddyurappa has transferred officers from Ramanagaram and Central Range in the city for no fault of theirs for providing security for our MLAs,” alleged Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar.
