Train passengers from Mysuru to Varanasi are experiencing better riding comfort and amenities as the authorities have replaced the ICF (Integral Coach Factory) rake of Mysuru–Varanasi Express with that of LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) rake.
This is part of the long-term plan to replace the rakes of all long-distance trains in the country with the LHB rakes.
The Mysuru–Varanasi Express is a biweekly service and the train departing from Mysuru every Thursday and the service departing from Varanasi every Saturday will have the LHB rake. Sources said the second rake of the train comprising the conventional coaches built by the ICF too would be replaced with the LHB rake in due course and would be notified shortly.
Revised composition
A release said consequent to the change in the rake, the train has a revised composition of coaches which includes 2 power car, 5 general second sitting, 9 sleeper, 3 three-tier AC, 1 two-tier AC coach.
LHB coaches are designed on German technology and have in-built safety and comfort features that are comparable to world class standards. These coaches are safer and proven to have a smooth riding comfort even at high speeds with improved suspension system and feature wide windows as added advantage. The LHB coaches are fitted with microprocessor controlled high capacity air-conditioning system which gives passengers better comfort during summer and winter season. The coaches have anti-telescopic and anti-climbing feature which lead to zero fatality in case of derailment or collision. The disc brake system of LHB coaches is superior to that of conventionally used brake system, said the release.
Sources said there are a few other long-distance trains originating from Mysuru, including the Mysuru–Hazrat Nizamuddin Swarna Jayanti Express and the Mysuru–Howrah Express, whose rakes could be replaced with LHB coaches over the next few months.
