Music festival in Dharwad today

On the occasion of the second death anniversary of musician Panchakshariswamy Mattigatti, the Gurukumar Panchakshari (Music) Education Society and Dr. Guruputtaraj Gavai Sangeet Vidyalaya will hold a national-level music festival at Ganayogi Panchakshari Kalyan Mantap in Basava Nagar here on Sunday.

Panchakshari Education Society principal Sangameshwar Swadimath told presspersons here on Saturday that the event would begin with the rendition of prayers by the students of Dr. Guruputtaraj Gavai Sangeet Vidyalaya. It would be followed by a ‘shehnai’ concert by Basavaraj Bhajantri. Vocalists including Maniprasad from New Delhi, Sangameshwar Swadimath, Omkarnath Havaldar, Siddaramaiah Matpati, Nagarajrao Havaldar, Meera Gundi, Mukta Muzumdar, Veeranna Hugar, Mrutyunjaya Agadi, Sumitra Kadadevarmath and S.P. Baligar would perform.

Concerts

B.S. Math and Akkamadadevi Math would give a violin concert; Panchakshari Hiremmath and Sameer Havaldar would perform a vocal concert; and Rachayya Hiremath, Nandikeshwar Gurav, Allamaprabhu Kadkol, Uday Kulkarni, Mrutyunjaya Kurubar, Basavaraj Hiremath and Manjunath Lingareddy would give tabla concerts.

Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar would inaugurate the programme at 10 a.m., he added.
