MUDA launches e-Khata, e-Nakshe

This will expedite procedure of khata, building plan approvals

The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on Wednesday launched e-Khata and e-Nakshe schemes to expeditiously issue khatas of properties in private layouts and approvals for building plans.

Launching the new system, District in-charge Minister V. Srinivas Prasad said e-Khata and e-Nakshe will not only bring down the time consumed for delivery of the documents, but also keep middlemen away.

MUDA Chairman K.R. Mohan Kumar said the applicants would receive their khatas and building plan approvals within 21 days of submission of applications if all the required documents are in order. “If not, the same will be communicated to the applicants for necessary action,” he said. MUDA will soon introduce a similar electronic procedure for issue of other documents like title deeds, he said.

MUDA’s system analyst Gururaj told The Hindu that digital copies of applications for issue of khatas for sites in private layouts received at Spandana Centre in MUDA premises would henceforth be forwarded online to the responsible case worker, who will go through the physical copies of the respective sale deed, no-encumberance certificate, MUDA release order of the sites for registration, etc. “If the documents are in place, the application will be forwarded to the tahsildar, who will approve issue of an e-challan. The challan, which is valid for 15 days, will be despatched to the address of the applicant. After the applicant makes the payment, the bank will forward the challan to the department concerned for issue of khata,” he said.

Out of the 3,600 applications received since January this year, 2,800 khatas of private layouts had already been issued through the electronic mode in a trial ahead of the formal launch.

Building plan licences

Similiarly, Assistant Director of Town Planning Asha Bharath, who explained the procedure for issuing building plan licences, said the applications received at Spandana Centre would be recorded digitally and sent to the respective engineers for verification of documents. After verification, a senior official will approve issue of an e-challan. After the payment is made, formal approval for the building plan will be issued.

“The system does not allow us to process applications out of turn. It is in-built to process applications on a first-come first-serves basis,” she added.
