Minister urges seer to lead campaign against alcohol addiction

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra, has requested Nirmalananda Natha Swami of Adichunchanagiri Mutt to organise and lead a campaign against alcohol addiction.

Inaugurating a programme on alcohol de-addiction at Adichunchanagiri in Nagamangala taluk on Sunday, Mr. Jayachandra said the State government would provide all assistance to the mutt for conducting the programme.

He also stressed the need to initiate steps to create awareness among rural people about the ill-effects of alcohol addiction.

The programme had been organised by the Karnataka State Temperance Board, Department of Information and Public Relations, the Karnataka State Gandhi Memorial Fund and the Adichunchanagiri Mutt.

Chairman of the board M.R. Rangashamaiah, Deputy Director of Information Department H.B. Dinesh, Nirmalananda Natha Swami, writer M. Krishne Gowda, and president of the memorial fund Ho. Srinivasaiah were present.
