Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, directed the Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (Mescom) officials to give priority to providing regular power to water supply units.
Presiding over a meeting of the Udupi Assembly Constituency Electricity Advisory Committee here recently, Mr. Madhwaraj said that water supply was a vital service and could not be disrupted.
The officials should deploy the required staff to deal with emergencies related to power outages and related problems in the evenings and nights during the monsoon.
It was necessary to improve power supply in the constituency.
He directed the officials to dispose applications for electricity expeditiously and take appropriate action if there were any objections to such connections.
Officials and staff of Mescom should respond to telephone calls of the general public immediately. Work on the 33 KV sub-station in Malpe would be completed immediately. A CCTV camera should be installed at the complaint redressal centre at the Mescom office here, Mr. Madhwaraj said.
Sudhakar Hegde, Surendra Nittur, Chandrika Shetty and Sairaj, members of advisory committee, Gururaj Suvarna, executive engineer, Ganaraj Bhat, Pranesh, Santosh Nayak, Prashanth Puthran, Srinivas, assistant executive engineers, were present.
